My experience working at the park was much better than I expected. To be honest, the only reason I joined was because Manuel asked me to, otherwise I would've more than likely not joined. As well, I became somewhat nervous thinking that I might've agreed to something that required more responsibility than I could handle but, thankfully, the job wasn't nearly as stressful as I imagined. My first summer job was very enjoyable. The fact that we were allowed to make mistakes and were given the freedom to work independently made it a fun summer. I will never forget the first say . It was a chaotic day full of blunders, but more importantly, learning experiences. On the first day it took the whole staff thirty minutes to set up the (soccer) goal posts. It's a great day whenever a kid remembers who I am because of the summer recreation program."

Seeing how a few people came together to make a difference in more than 80 lives, that, to me, is what it means to be a community.
My experience was great. I had fun and learned quite a bit. Working as a recreation counselor taught me responsibility and a good work ethic. I also had the opportunity to teach the kids new things. Overall, it was a great experience.
