Jennifer, Assistant Program Director

“I’m grateful to work for the Los Alamos Foundation’s Summer in the Park program. We have created such a fun and safe place where children can spend their summers. Our team is exceptional, they are quite dedicated to the mission.  They enjoy spending time with the kids and in return the kids look up to them!”

Yesenia, Parent

“I really liked how we did the art class with Nancy. And then displaying them (artwork) on the last day for the parents to see, I thought that was really cool. Maybe it’ll encourage kids to join the art class more next year. Every year is a new experience at the park and this year was a great year, as well as last year’s for me. I’m looking forward to the years to come.”

Hana, Recreation Counselor

“Being new to Los Alamos, Summer in the Park allowed me to get involved and find a place in the community. Before Summer in the Park the idea that you can make a difference greater than a personal relationship seemed out of reach. Seeing how a few people came together to make a difference in more than 80 lives, that, to me, is what it means to be a community.”

Sonia, Junior Recreation Counselor

“Working with the kids this summer was my first job and it definitely set high expectations for the rest of my jobs to come. I has a closer relationship with all of the kids. I also learned how to do CPR on someone if there is ever an emergency. It’s a great day whenever a kid remembers who I am because of the summer recreation program.”

Eddie, Recreation Counselor

“My experience was great! I had fun and learned quite a bit. Working as a recreation counselor taught me responsibility and a good work ethic. I also had the opportunity to teach the kids new things.”

Manuel, Junior Counselor

“My first summer job was very enjoyable. The fact that we were allowed to make mistakes and were given the freedom to work independently made it a fun summer. I will never forget the first say. It was a chaotic day full of blunders, but more importantly, learning experiences.”
